I have got an understanding of the Ekman deflection NE and SE trade winds respectively to the NW and SW causing divergences at 0 and 10 degrees latitudes (in Atlantic) I think I understand the basic principles of the equatorial undercurrent (a response to the sloping sea surface from W to E on account of the accumulation of water on the E coast of the Americas) but I cant get a grasp on the Equatorial countercurrent’s causes or dynamics. If anyone could shed any light on this it would be great or direct me to some easily digestible literature! Thanks
