Mothers & Accounting Careers?
I am wondering, when is the wisest time to have children when working for a Big Four accounting firm? I always assumed it would be wiser to wait until you reach atleast manager level but is that always true? At what level will having children slow down career progression the least? I read an article written by someone from Duke university that mentioned it could actually be smarter for professional women to have children earlier on so the kids are older when they reach more critical times in their careers.

- If you wait for the right time, then the right time will never come. Whether your employer is one of the Big Four or not is less relevant than you might think. If there are travel requirements, you might request local assignments as you near your due date...but otherwise, the company is a side issue. Duke University makes an excellent point. Also, your children are more likely to be healthy if you have them when you're younger rather than older. Even 5 years difference can be significant for some women.
