- Accounting will almost definitely pay more because accountants are still in high demand right now. Both give you different opportunities as far as places to work. I mostly think of social workers either for the state or for a hospital or doctor where they need to help patients. Personally, I think it would be such an emotionally draining job that it would be hard to do day-in and day-out. Accounting does offer several career paths. You can become an expert in a certain field and do consulting. You can work for a public or private firm. You can work for a private company and become an expert in a certain type of accounting, such as construction or healthcare or education. And the government is always hiring accountants, too!
- The two are so different....I would say if you like people go into social work and if you like figures go into accounting. Accounting has the potential for more money (depending on what area you go into, certification etc.). Social work is more diverse and broad and allows you to do many things in social work so you have more career breadth. DA
