What is the best college for accounting?

I'm currently a sophmore in high school and I am really interested in a career in accounting since I'm good with numbers and such. I am a really good student and in the top 5% of my class. I'm trying to get into the best college possible. Most college rankings such as US News& World Report rank the top colleges but none of them offer undergraduate programs in accounting or even business management. What is the best college that offers a program in accounting or businness management, etc.

  1. I don't know where you live but the University of Minnesota has a great business school. Accounting and management are both offered there. However, it is getting to be quite prestigious and becoming more difficult to get into so keep working hard. I have two good friends that graduated from Carlson one with a degree in management and one with degrees in finance and accounting. One works at Macy's and the other at Merrill Lynch. Good luck with your decision. Here's more info if you want. http://www.csom.umn.edu/
  2. NYU, UPenn's Wharton School, and Indiana University Bloomington
  3. I didn't attend business school, but I do know Indiana University-Bloomington is in the top ten of business schools.
  4. Definitely suggest you focus on on a good undergraduate business program with strong career networking and reputation. In the long run, business will probably be a little more exciting and profitable than straight accounting. The while you are there, major in accounting. Wharton, UVA, Notre Dame, MIT, Emory and NYU were the top 7 in the 06 BW rankings. Anything in the top 20-25 (see source link) there will put you in great shape. If you do want to go the accounting/finance/CFO route, pursuing the CPA (and/or CFA) designation as soon as you can will help a ton.
